Our Organization

A subsidiary of DrillingInfo, Inc - we see all the time that it is not the data that creates the insight or the best decision, it is the RIGHT data combined with the kind of industry expertise that ranges from the typical 50,000' view, all the way down to the 5' view of those that have grease under their fingernails. Drillinginfo is uniquely situated to find analytically- robust answers to complex upstream questions.

Managing Director:

Ramona Hovey - Prior to joining DrillingInfo in 2002, Ramona worked in the upstream and midstream energy sectors for over 12 years. She began her career as a drilling engineer with ARCO Oil and Gas Company in 1990, then moved into the midstream arena as a natural gas trader with Vastar Gas Marketing in 1993. In 2000, she formed Custom Soft LLC, a database consulting firm providing data management tools to a range of energy and non-energy related clients.

Ramona received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1990.

Directors:

Allen Gilmer - Before cofounding Drillinginfo in 1999, Allen served as President of Visos Energy Corporation from 1997 to 2000 and as a Research Fellow at the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology. While there, he directed research which earned him and his team critical patents in the field of multicomponent seismology. These intellectual properties were used to found Dallas-based Vecta Technology, LP, with the Beecherl family of TXO fame. Prior to co-founding Visos, Allen was among the first to develop the business concept of "shoot to earn" when he co-founded Anasazi Exploration, Inc., a small E&P and 3-D seismic consulting company, and Strata Various, LLC, a small full-service 3-D seismic acquisition/shoot to earn company with 2 3-D crews in 1993. From 1987 until 1993, Allen worked for Marathon Oil and started in the patch as a junior geologist with Range Oil in Houston, Texas in 1984.

Allen received a B.A. Geology in 1984 from Rice University and an M.S. Geology with Geophysics minor from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1987.

Mark Nibbelink - Before co founding Drillinginfo in 1999, Mark had worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years. He spent 14 years as an independent oil and gas prospect generator, exploration consultant, and wellsite geologist utilizing his extensive experience in the Texas Gulf Coast and East Texas regions, and in the Denver-Julesberg and Mississippi Salt Basins. Mark's breadth of experience includes extensive horizontal well experience with Yahola Operating Company and Coffman & Temple in the Pearsall Trend Austin Chalk horizontal play, several years with Kugler-Newberry, focusing in the Austin Chalk, and several other positions going back to 1972 when Mark began his career as Staff Geophysicist and Explorationist for Gulf Oil Company in the Mississippi Interior Salt Basin.

Mark received a B.A. Geology (1971) and a M.A. Geology/Geophysics (1973) from Dartmouth College.

Bill Fowler - Prior to joining Drillinginfo as Chief Executive Officer, Bill spent years as an independent oil and gas operator. His company, Chase Energy, which he founded in 1984, participated in prospecting, drilling, property acquisitions, and production operations in the Texas Gulf Coast, East Texas, and Oklahoma. Before entering the oil business, Bill was with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Houston, Texas.

Bill earned a BBA and MBA from the University of Texas in 1977 and 1979.

Martin Payne - Involved in the oilpatch since 1975, , Martin spent twelve years as Vice President of a small independent operating company, while also maintaining an engineering consultant practice and his own small operating company. From 1981 until 1988, Martin worked for TXO Production Corp. and Delhi Gas Pipeline, both subsidiaries of Texas Oil and Gas Corp. Martin is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas.

Martin earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, with Honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981. While obtaining his education, Martin worked for Brown Oil Tools, Compressor Engineering Corp., Houston Offshore International, Hughes Tool Company and Shell Development Corp.
